Run netstat -a or sockstat -l and make sure ntop has a process listening on
2055 or whatever udp port your routers are exporting to. You can also check
the log file and see the details about the netflow plugin loading.

Also, run tcpdump or whatever and make certain the netflow data is actually
reaching your ntop host.

Lastly, "Network Flows" in nTop is NOT netflow. You must define Network Flows
manually. I haven't done this, but once you define your network flows you
should be able to see them when using netflow. However, Without Network Flows
defined you should definitely see traffic stats from netflow if everything is
configured correctly.

Subject: [Ntop] Problems with NetFlow Plugin

Hi there,

I'm pretty new to ntop, and haven't found anything regarding my problem in the
list.

I want to use ntop as a Netflow collector for my cisco routers.
I already activated the Netflow Plugin, and added 2 sample routers which are
sending netflow data to my server.
The routers are sending their data correctly, when I execute "show ip flow", I
can see, that there are a lot of flows send by the router to the ntop server.
When I look to the ntop web interface, and switch to the NIC, and look at the
traffic summary, I see a lot of traffic and flows going to that interface *but*
when I look at Summary / Network Flows, there are neither any NetFlows counted
nor any counters behind the other Plugins such as ICMP Watch or RRD or SNMP.

Another funny thing is, that when I select Plugis / NetFlow / Describe, it's
always shown that the Plugin is inactive. But when I select Plugins / All, it's
shown as active...kind of confuses me a little bit...how can I check if the
plugin is really working?

Is there a kind of User Guide in the Net, or something like a documentation for
ntop? Haven't found so much so far :-/

Regards,
Philipp
