Vaughan:

I run ntop from a startup script (rc.local):

cd /usr/local/src/ntop
/usr/local/bin/ntop --w3c > /dev/null 2>&1 &

Note that I do _not_ run it as a daemon (-d)
This works for me, on the other hand it should
not be neccessary to have to run ntop from
the installation directory....???
