I've had issues with my installation of 3.3.1 as well, after upgrading from 3.2.

It would die for no reason, just catch a sig 11 and go away, after
random amounts of time < 24 hours..

Then, after a while, I wouldn't even be able to start it up, it would just die.

I ended up deleting the rrd directories and most of the databases,
leaving only lswatch.db, fingerprint.db, macprefix.db, ntop_pw.db and
prefscache.db.

So far, it's been up for almost a week, and I'm crossing my fingers.

Top looks like this, FWIW, under FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE, built mid-July:
