Thank you all for the advice.  I did interpret Luca's suggestion as
upgrading ntop, not Debian.  The unfortunate thing about the Debian
package is that is behind the current version and no newer alternative
in Debian Backports.

I will speak to our development team, we may try to automate the
process of building a .deb just for this considering our deployment
size.
