Ed,
you have to upgrade your libevent to 1.4.11
for example in debian i use this package :
<http://debian.mirror.inra.fr/debian/pool/main/libe/libevent/>http://debian.mirror.inra.fr/debian/pool/main/libe/libevent/
you can download the source code here :
<http://www.monkey.org/~provos/libevent/>http://www.monkey.org/~provos/libevent/
We use another version about libevent because the default version in
debian or fedora are bug affected

When trying to configure 3.3.10, I get the following error:
checking for event_get_version in -levent... no
Error! You need to have libevent 1.4.X or better.
I have libevent 1.4.4 installed via rpm on FC6:
# /sbin/ldconfig -v | grep event
libevent-1.4.so.2 -> libevent-1.4.so.2.0.0
libevent_extra-1.4.so.2 -> libevent_extra-1.4.so.2.0.0
libevent_core-1.4.so.2 -> libevent_core-1.4.so.2.0.0
I checked 3.3.9 and it compiles just fine.
Any suggestions as to what to do next are appreciated.
Thanks!
Ed
