Thanks for your advice! I still got the same compliationr error even downloaded
source from freshmeat or from svn. It is strange that I got the same error
when complied other version like ntop-3.3.8 and ntop-3.3.9. So I think it is
not the version problem. May be something in the other dependicies.
I use FC9 as the LINUX box, should anyone encoutered this problem before, pls
give me your helping hand. Anyone who sucessfully complied the ntop in FC also
welcome give suggestions!

First I would recommend finding a binary for your OS and see if it works OK for
you with whatever options the package builder used. If not, then I guess you
have to compile.
I do not know what the current fixed/stable/patched whatever revision of 3.3.10
is. The link on ntop.org for stable source is:

I had to get rev 3780 from the ntop SVN server:
svn co –r 3780 https://svn.ntop.org/svn/ntop/trunk/ntop
3780 has it’s share of issues, but it’s the only one so far I could actually
get built and installed. I’m sure some of the issues are my environment and
ignorance, but it kinda sorta works so I’m sticking with it – for now at least!
