True, however, if I understand correctly, broadcasts and multicasts are 
normally blocked per default by any networking equipment, on edge gateways and 
routers, which would make it a moot point.

Nevertheless, your suggestion is worth a shot.

I poured and poured over that documentation... which is what forced me to 
finally come here (I wouldn't even think to post a question on a forum and 
bother people unless I've exhausted all known alternatives).
