Speaker: Mark Franklin - Preparing for university or college and connecting the
dots between education and career

When? Wednesday, November 14th 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Where? Room 215

Transitioning from high school to university or college can be both an exciting
and stressful time for students and parents. Making choices about programs, and
how to prepare for post-secondary success and future career paths requires
important discussions between students and their parents as well as access to
the right information. This session will help parents connect the dots between
education and career resulting in more clarity and confidence. The linkages
between degree programs and the world work will be explored as well as the
skills and resources to select programs and establish success right from first
year. We'll look at parents' influence and roles, and ways to give students a
wider range of permission, in terms of educational and career areas. In a
dynamic and interactive session we'll cover:

  * Linkage Between Education & Careers
  * First Year Success and Program Choices
  * Clarifying strengths, desires, and other people's influences
  * The Changing Role of Parents
