Dear Parents/Guardians:

As you may be aware, although secondary teachers are no longer in a legal
strike position since contracts were imposed on December 31st, the Ontario
Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) is directing secondary school
teachers to continue to implement sanctions that include the withdrawal of
voluntary and extracurricular activities. Further information on these actions
can be found at www.osstf.on.ca<http://www.osstf.on.ca/>. Although we do not
expect that these actions will have an impact on the day-to-day operations of
NTCI, it does mean the postponement of numerous activities and initiatives such
as inter-school athletics, clubs, and Charity Week initiatives including
Fashion Show.

While I appreciate the generous offer of parent support around the possibility
of continuing extracurricular activities at NTCI during these sanctions, all
extra-curricular activities must be supervised by TDSB staff. Student safety
is always the top priority and it is not possible to provide an appropriate
level of supervision without full teacher support.

I will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep you apprised of
developments. We all hope that this situation will be resolved as soon as
possible so we may return to a sense of normalcy.

As always, should you have any questions, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Joel Gorenkoff
Principal
