Dear Parents & Guardians, Many of you are aware that we started this school year with some very large class sizes, particularly in grade 10. This was unacceptable. As a result, the board has allowed me to hire an additional 1/2 teacher. This is good news for NT but the challenge is incorporating this new 1/2 teacher into our existing staffing model with as little disruption as possible. The aim is to reduce overall class sizes providing more teacher-student contact time.
We are completing our modification of the school's master schedule so we may quickly reduce class sizes and incorporate this new (half) teacher. As a result, your child may need a timetable change. This is unavoidable. I want to assure you that we will do their best to minimize disruption to our students. We expect that all changes will be effective Monday, October 7, 2013. Affected students will be notified Friday, October 4, will receive their new timetable, and will receive support as they transition to their new schedule.
