The 71st Maytime Melodies took place last Thursday and Friday evening and, once
more, was a smash hit! It was an incredible evening of student performance -
choir, orchestra and stage band. Thank you and congratulations to the
incredible teachers for their hard work, dedication and professionalism: Deb
Pady, Keith Reid, Liz Monteith, and Leo Varahidis. We are blessed to have such
a strong music program at NT.

Vanessa Kam, Cara De Belle and Victor Lu represented NT well at OFSAA.
Congrats to Cara and Victor for being Gold Medal winners in Mixed Doubles

The Archery Team is headed off to Ontario Championships this week. We wish them
good luck!

Congratulations to Abby Waldman whose entry into the Telus Safe Media Contest
resulted in $2000 being donated to technology at North Toronto. Thank you for
your initiative!

Kehkashan, an NT student, spoke last week at the New York Public Library
Schools Summit about how she has been mobilising youth through her organization
Green Hope Foundation. As well, a speaker from the United Nations Human Rights
Commission quoted Kehkashan in his speech at the Climate Change Conference in
Bonn. Well done Kehkashan!!

Student Council Elections took place last week. Please congratulate the
2017-2018 representatives: JVP: Samantha Barton; Environmental: Joshua Chong,
Music: Henry Kelsey; Secretary: Regina Ledesma; Social Convenor: Olivia O’Brien
de la Torre; NTAA Female: Ella Crockett; NTAA male: Tanner Woods;Treasurer:
Jacob Crawford Ritchie; SVP: Julia Yacoub; President: David Chu. Thank you to
Jenny Hayden and Jessica Bulgutch for the great job they did in promoting
student leadership.

PROM!!! will take place this week on Thursday, May 18. If your child is
attending Prom, please have a discussion with them about responsible behaviour,
especially with regards to alcohol. This includes not "pre-drinking" at parties
prior to the start of Prom. Any students at the prom either under the
influence of alcohol or with alcohol, will not be allowed to enter/stay at the
prom. Parents will be notified and a suspension will result. We would much
rather that everyone have fun and be safe - please reinforce this message.
Thank you for your support!!
