Acknowledgements A very special thank you to our Remembrance Day assembly committee: Mr. Taylor, Mr. Hobson, Mr. Varahidis, Ms. Dalamba and Ms. Wilson and to all of our talented musicians, vocalists and students for performing in two very powerful assemblies this morning. We were thankful to have North Toronto alumni and war veterans among our honored guests. The North Toronto community took time to reflect, remember and honour those who fought for our country and to remind ourselves that the freedom we unquestionable enjoy today was not without sacrifice. Upcoming Events! Tuesday Nov. 13: Stressbusters! All Grade 9 and 10 students will participate in mindfulness activities to help reduce stress and anxiety. Sessions include Yoga, Afro-Brazilian dance, Music & Mindfulness, Groove Martial Arts and Sound Meditation. Wednesday Nov. 14: Take Our Kid to Work Day (Grade 9 only) Wednesday Nov. 14: Northern Secondary School (851 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto) is hosting a Special Education Post-Secondary Transitions Information Evening with Angela Le Compte from York University at 6:30pm in the school's library. Monday Nov. 19: Report Card distribution during Home Form Please ask your child to see the report card package as it contains important information regarding online sign-up procedures for Parent Teacher Interviews. Thursday Nov. 22: Parent Teacher interviews (afternoon and evening sessions / online sign-up) The Parent Teacher Interview appointment sign-up link goes "live" from Monday Nov. 19 at 4pm until Wednesday Nov. 21 at 10pm. Appointments are scheduled for Thurs. Nov. 22 from 2-4pm and 6-8:30pm. School Council news! School Council contact address: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Next School Council meeting: Monday November 26 at 7:30pm in room 215 Join us at our next meeting where our guest speakers will be representatives from Toronto Police Service's 53 Division. Officers will discuss the ongoing issue of robberies in the area affecting our students, and share strategies with our community as to how parents can keep their children safe and what we as a school can do to proactively promote safety and well-being amongst the student population. Also addressed will be how to respond to such incidents, if one becomes a victim, and measures we can take as a community to reduce such activity. Based on our recent survey results, this is an issue that many of you have expressed an interest in hearing more about, and consequently we may have a larger than usual turn out.
