School Council news!
School Council contact address:

Next School Council meeting: Monday January 28, 2019 at 7:30 pm in room 215
Our guest will be newly re-elected Trustee Shelley Laskin who has served our
school for years but who is now also responsible for schools in the area to our
north (former Wards 8 and 11 were joined into a single new Ward 8).

The much smaller 22-member board, over half newly-elected, faces challenges in
maintaining effective connections with the parent community, working with a new
Ontario government, and dealing with an uncertain future operating North
America’s largest school board. Shelley will provide us with an update on where
the Board is going generally, and also will identify issues of specific
interest to the NTCI community. She will be most interested in your reactions
and views. We are also hoping to have a good discussion with parents on the
special attributes and challenges of our school: what distinguishes NTCI, and
what challenges and opportunities exist for it now and in the upcoming years.
Your input will be used to formulate future plans for the school. Please join
us!

From the Guidance department!
Course Selection Information night for Parents: Wednesday January 30 at 6:30
pm.
Please join members of our Student Services department for an information
session focusing on the upcoming submission of course selection sheets for the
next academic year.

From the organizers of North Toronto’s Charity Week!
NT’s Charity Week is January 21st to 25th!

This year we are supporting Forests Ontario, an environmental not-for-profit
that has a mission to make Ontario’s forests greener and healthier
(https://www.forestsontario.ca/ ).

How can you help us fundraise for Forests Ontario?

1. Purchase Charity Week Bucks for your child to spend at Home Form booths
& special events! And encourage your son or daughter to participate in these
events & booths for Forests Ontario.

Steps:

1. Find the item called “Charity Week Bucks” under the North Toronto CI
section on SchoolCashOnline.

2. Use your credit card to spend $10, $20, $30 or $40 to buy Charity Week
Bucks that your son or daughter can spend at our special events and Home Form
booths in Charity Week.

3. If you pay on SchoolCashOnline by Wednesday, January 16, your child’s
Charity Week Bucks will be delivered to their Home Form.

4. If you pay after next Wednesday, your child can simply pick up Charity
Week Bucks outside the Main Office from Thursday January 17 to Friday January
25.

2. Donate a prize to our raffle by Friday, January 25! Raffle tickets go on
sale in early February.
If you have a donation of NEW goods, game/concert tickets or gift certificates
for services, dining or entertainment that you would like to donate to Charity
Week, please:
*email the raffle staff advisor, Jenny Hayden at
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>
OR
*drop off the prize directly to the Guidance Office to the attention of Jenny
Hayden by Jan 25

In next week newsletter, we will provide a list of booths & special events
happening in Charity Week!
