Next School Council meeting: Monday February 25, 2019 at 7:30 pm in room 215
Our guest speaker will be Sue Hutton BSW, MSW on "Mindfulness Everyday".
Sue will provide parents with an engaging and accessible look at the research
on Mindfulness. Parents will come away with an understanding of the basic tools
of Mindfulness and how it increases overall wellbeing and tips on how to apply
it in parenting life.

Mindfulness has been shown to reduce depression, anxiety, and improve coping of
stressful experiences. Parents report that with a practice of mindfulness they
have increased satisfaction in their relationships with their children, their
work, and an overall reduction in stress levels.

Sue has studied Mindfulness meditation with teachers in Canada, the US and
India since 1985. She received her professional training in the US in delivery
of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Sue has delivered Mindfulness
programs in Toronto schools, as well as leading Mindfulness groups for youth
identifying as having a mental health diagnosis. Sue also guest lectures on
Mindfulness at Ryerson University's Faculty of Social Work and York University.

Our January meeting with Trustee Shelly Laskin, cancelled due to weather, has
been rescheduled to Monday, April 1st at 7:30 pm.
