Acknowledgements & Upcoming Events & Dates Incoming Grade 9 Welcome Evening! The school community will be welcoming our new Grade 9 students and their families on Thursday May 23 starting at 6:30 pm. A plenary session will be held in the auditorium followed by a selection of four workshops for parents. Students will participate in a series of activities in different areas of the school lead by our current student leaders. We look forward to welcoming our new class of 2023! School Council news! The next school council meeting is May 27 at 7:30 pm. Our guest will be teacher and parenting coach Michelle Keeley, who will speak to us on the topic "The Teenage Tango: Dealing with Power Struggles with your Teenager". Are you interested in tips to take the sting out of power struggles with your teen? Parenting a teen is often a dance and it takes two to tango! Please join us on May 27th for interesting discussion and helpful ideas for improving your relationship with your teen(s)! Staff meeting: May 28. Classes start at 10 am. Last day for term tests and assignments: May 30 (day 2/4) and May 31 (day 1/3). Final day of classes: Friday June 7. Final exams: Monday June 10 – Friday June 21. Please refer to the NTCI website for a copy of the final examination schedule. Commencement: Thursday June 27. A formal invitation letter to potential graduates has been mailed with information and timelines for the day and two complimentary tickets for the ceremony starting at 1 pm. If you are not scheduled to complete your 30th credit at North Toronto in June, you must show proof of completion of your diploma requirements to the Guidance office no later than June 20th in order to receive your formal invitation and accompanying tickets. Please see Mr. Mack if you have any questions. Spam/Phishing alert! Spam/Phishing Earlier this year we shared a message about a spam/phishing campaign targeting student email accounts that indicates their device or account had been compromised. Accounts were, in fact, not compromised. Many of us spend a considerable amount of time online and have experienced these kinds of deceitful activities. It’s helpful to remind everyone to be aware and alert at all times about the issue. Earlier this week, one of our students reported that she had received a message that was similar to those that other students received earlier this year. This has been reported to the Communications department at the TDSB. Our staff periodically reviews online safety with students. Below are some of the tips we share with students. Please help us to reinforce these important messages so that we can create awareness, and minimize the impact of such malicious campaigns. If you receive spam or a phishing message: * Delete the message. * Do not pay money or act on any instructions in the message. * As a precaution, you may choose to change your password.
