Not worried about transport - we realize email and plain ftp are not secure
and encryption is not required - just concerned about preventing editing or
copying and want to avoid passwords on either end if possible.

Ideally, a way to add a "wrapper" for the file that activates when the file
is opened and locks the file to only allow viewing or printing.

We may not really have a problem but I've been asked to investigate if such
a methodology exists.
