VIPRE has been spun off to ThreatTrack Security and is still a traditional
client/server based product.

Several companies, GFI and others, now offer web-based security solutions
with lightweight agents that communicates home for updates and management.
 Other than a brief trial of Microsoft's InTune, I've not used any of them.
