  Are the HQ DCs the *only* DNS servers?  Do an "IPCONFIG /ALL" and
look for any DNS servers which are *not* the DCs.  If any are listed,
that's likely to be trouble.  You should remove any DNS servers which
are not DCs.  (Your AD domain is prolly not public and if an ISP
nameserver gets asked first, it will reply "non-existent domain" and
then the client gives up.)

  Doesn't seem likely, given the scenario described, but it's a common
failing generally, so I like to check it.
