The previous procurve web interfaces were basic too. CLI is where all the more
complex configuration lives.
I'm very happy to hear the removal of Java. Java in a browser can die a quick
death, IMO.

Recently purchased a HP 2530-48G from provantage for just under $1K. The web
interface is very basic. Had to learn a little CLI to finish the setup. Bought
it based on recommendations from this list.

I have a procurve myself and love it.  However, I don't see any new 48 ports
switches for less than 1k.  Is that correct?

As anyone who's been on this list for more than few months knows, I'm a big
fan of HP ProCurve.  "Warrantied and supported forever" is hard to beat.

  ProCurve 2530-24G (J9776A).  24 1000BASE-T ports, 4 gig SFP.
Provantage has it for $520.

  ProCurve 2530-48G (J9775A).  48 1000BASE-T ports, 4 gig SFP.
Provantage has it for $910.
