I, too, have been a subscriber for many years. Maybe not 1996, but late 90's
early 2000's when it was still called Windows NT Magazine. Every issue used to
be full of good articles, full of technical details. They also had several
associated publications (on scripting, exchange, and others) that I learned a
lot from. Unfortunately, the associated publications got cancelled one by one
and finally the print magazine itself. I understand and have no problem with
getting away from dead tree publishing – my gripe is that each change along the
way has reduced the technical content provided. When I started there were
easily 10 articles, several columns (I love Mark Minasi's) and tips from users.
The April issue of the digital magazine 11 "articles", only 3 or 4 full length
articles, the rest are columns (including Minasi's) and a featured product
quickie.

I signed up as VIP when they first offered that option and it was nice because
I got a DVD with all their articles back to the beginning and access to other
content on the website. Now, I don't see what I get for it. I get a VIP email
from you ever so often, but that seems to only include links to things that
have been in previous emails or on Twitter.

Would love to hear your feedback on the “gone down hill a lot lately” comment.

They used to be really great, but it has gone down hill a lot lately. Even with
a VIP membership, I get more offers to buy stuff than I do of technical content.

I suppose my next question is what about access to past content? Kind of
irksome, and sad. I've had a subscription since ~1996.

I got the same email myself about 45 minutes ago, no explanation given. I
guess they weren’t getting enough digital subscriptions to continue.

So I just got a rather disturbing email that WinIT Pro is no longer publishing
digital (and already ceased dead tree) content.
Anyone happen to know what happened/why?
