I've seen some places that use an employee ID number or similar for the username (logon name, SAM account name, whatever you want to call it) for this reason, among others. Then people complain that their ID is hard to remember. You can't please everybody all the time. I will say that changing the username breaks all sorts of things in weird ways. I recommend never ever doing it. If keeping a username is intolerable, create a new account and archive/delete the old one. This isn't just a Windows thing, it's everywhere. Computers cannot cope with ambiguity. -- Ben
