i too was kind of wondering when the Mr. Citrix himself would chime in as
well, but I did remember the Webinar, so I figured at some point we would hear
something.

And this may sound dumb, but where do I check for the version?

thanks

Was wondering when you'd chime in. I thought that gym instructor had finished
you off. Either that or you'd collapsed during your webinar. :-)

Distributed COM membership is needed for enumerating servers for the console,
IIRC, but not usually just to enumerate apps.

Fundamentals may behave differently however.

http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/237700-quick-start-error-unable-to-retrieve-published-application-data/

We have manged to resolve this error by doning the following:

1. We added the users to the local Distributed COM Group (Domain Administartor
& Support Account) Thank you for this pointer!

2. Started the Quick Start Application using the following command line
"quickstart.exe –logfile c:\logfile.txt –runui" and checked the logfile.txt
file for any issues (as per CTX113326). We found that one of the Published
applications had an invalid user SID.
Used Management console and removed the invalid user account from the
application and saved the Published application. Tested the quick start
application in "normal" mode and all is working.

Don't have much experience with XenApp Fundamentals, but it looks like it
installs the Session Host end along with a Web Interface instance (not sure
what version you're running, I'm assuming version 6)

On the Web Interface server, (either on the web site or the services site, not
sure what Fundamentals uses), there should be a configuration item for Server
Farms or similar. In this config item, you will provide
the address of some XenApp servers - XML brokers. These servers basically
provide the list of applications and entitlements to a user logging in via the
web interface (either web site or services site). That's grossly simplified,
but never mind.

Are the servers specified here (as XML brokers for the web interface) online
and responding (i.e. all Citrix services running)? Do they have any errors in
the event logs? Are there any errors in the event logs
on the Web Interface server itself?

Cheers,

JR

again (which they did)

but when trying to check applications I still get the :

"Unable to retrieve Published Application Data. Ensure that the master server
is online and that the Citrix MFCOM and Citrix IMA services are running"

Ok, first and foremost I know this product is ancient and probably not in
existence anymore, however, this is at the site and I have no control over it.

Little background, this user was recently having the Exchange connection issue
with a new phone, and per the guidance of this list I changed his adminCount to
0 via ADSIEdit

and it worked perfectly;

FastForward he is unable to logon to Citrix fundamentals with the error

"you must be granted logon ....... permissions"

The user is not only a domain admin, but also a Citrix admin on the box (its
2008TS)

and I manually added him specifically to the RD group

Naturally I go to quickstart > management> Applications and there it is

"Unable to retrieve Published Application Data. Ensure that the master server
is online and that the Citrix MFCOM and Citrix IMA services are running"

Per some articles I launch quickstart with logging enabled and find

6/23/2014 23:35:41:7 : TaskHelper.GetInternalUrl : Failed to talk to CAE Service

06/23/2014 23:35:41:7 : TaskHelper.GetInternalUrl : Citrix.IMA.IMAException:
Failure

Here is where I suspect the problem lies

06/23/2014 23:35:50:710 : PublishableItem.FindAccounts : Account:
'DOMAIN\Affected_User' - [S-1-5-21-NNNNNNNNN-NNNNNNNNN-NNNNNNNN-NNNN]

06/23/2014 23:35:50:773 : PublishableItem.FindAccounts : Finding accounts for
application: 'Applications/e-mail'...

06/23/2014 23:35:52:945 : ApplicationsManagementPage.RefreshComplete : An error
occured while retrieving application details

06/23/2014 23:35:52:945 : ApplicationsManagementPage.RefreshComplete :
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Error HRESULT E_FAIL
has been returned from a call to a COM component.

Do I troubleshoot, or reinstall citrix?

And yes, all the citrix services are running
