I completely concur.  Based on past experiences, I think its only harmful
to yourself to not allow for additional length for slack - preferably an
adequately length kept in a loop configuration.  I've always called these
"utility loops", but I believe professional electricians call them "service
loops".

But I do always keep a few feet of cat6 in my bag, along with a cat 6
coupler just in case.
