Sorry I didn't have a ton of time to investigate but it does look like there is 
a hot fix from Microsoft that directly addresses this if you haven't yet seen 
it. Link below

Subject: [NTSysADM] Windows 7 print drivers missing dependencies

Has anyone experienced the issue in Windows 7 where the dependent files 
registry key for the driver that's used by the printer is overwritten by a null 
value? This only causes problems for advanced printing functions such as 
dual-side etc. Any ideas as to why this occurs and how to prevent? Thanks!
