I have a site which has a 2008 RDS and 2X RAS
(http://www.2x.com/ras/remote-application-server/)installed for remote access.
For the most part it is used as a standard RDS however, there are a few
PHYSICAL desktops published for specific users , e.g. the bookkeeper , HR ,
etc...

The client currently has few copies of office on certain desktops in certain
departments, and now wants to (FINALLY) get office for all sales and operations
users, so here is the question;
We all know that to use office ON RDS requires Office pro Volume Licensing.
HOWEVER, if the PHYSICAL DESKTOP that is being published has a copy of office
on it (like the accountant, HR , and others currently do) it *seems* not to
violate the licensing as office is NOT being run on the RDS, rather, it is on
the published desktop.
The reason this came up is two-fold;
1. Because prior to 2X, the select users RDP'd directly into their desktops
using modified ports and firewall rules,( 2X has just made it a simplified
process as instead of playing settings I just click the desktop to publish and
it's done.)
2. The client has already spent a bit of money on Outlook when Exchange was
deployed, and I guess wants to save some $$$
TIA
