I didn’t know about that difference between 2012 R1 and 2012 R2 Hyper-V. I
think what will really be a major factor is whether or not the virtual disk
is thin or thick. If it’s thin, I believe it will take seconds.

Hi all,

On 2012r1 host with a 1tb array ,I have a guest OS with a 500gb disc
that I now need to expand.
Since this is not 2012r2 I need to shut down the guest to exapnd the disc,
what I'm trying to guess-estimate is how long the guest will be down to
expand the guest.

Hardware is 2 x 4 core 1.86 XEON and 48GB of ram

thanks
