This sounds like an early pata/sata raid system where both drives in a hw mirror often were visible to the OS. Therefore it would work when the local tech connected the drive directly to the motherboard. Normally the two physical drives are hidden from the OS, and the raid card presents a virtual drive for it.
So far the second drive is a backup. If you try to make a sw raid with that, it would be formatted. Hence no backup. Myself I would wait for a new card. I dont know how long it will be till we can get another card shipped over there and installed, so i was wondering if I should attempt to "online the second disc" and try to create a windows raid, or just wait till we can get a replacement card? any thoughts? OS is 2008r2 tia
