It was a 128GB mSATA SSD. My home PC does not have an mSATA slot, so I had to purchase an external device with a USB connection. ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LRZPNHM).
It took something like 45 minutes to complete the encryption. I honestly don't know if the USB slot I connected it to was 2.0 or 3.0.
