Given the lightweight needs I don’t know of anything more suited than cannon bubblejets IP 110 – top feeder 50 sheets of A4, takes letter size paper too Battery is a separate cost (holder screws on to back of printer fairly securely), Bluetooth option also extra, as is the car power/charger facility I believe special non-run black ink available – and I don’t remember any leakage complaints from normal ink, just fading in daylight, let alone bright sunlight.
Wireless and you can probably get a Bluetooth attachment too BUT Do check what paper is appropriate for the printer(s) you consider Do use a quality surfaced paper, 80 gsm to 100, when I was ‘PC support’ I saw many printers needing replacement due to the abrasion of feed pickup rollers and accumulated dust in the mechanism from using ‘recycled’ and other paper that did not have a good surface coating, and clean-cut edges. Maybe if HP is OK with you, the HP Officejet 100 Mobile Printer it’s a HP Thermal Inkjet - HP PCL 3 GUI up to 50 sheets A4 (Does upto 216 x 356 mm (8” x 14? – which ain’t A3). minimal margins except ½” at the bottom It ain’t fast and it weighs over 5lb < http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=CN551A&opt=BEH&sel=PRN> From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of D R Sent: Thursday, January 29, 2015 9:02 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NTSysADM] OT: portable printer Thank you! That be the animal, alright. Now, I have to come up with the money to get it. :( But, everything in your last email for what you are looking for, this printer line will do. And quite well, too. The quality is amazing. The output is laser quality, or better. And the printing is fast. I don't think Canon is making that particular model, but you can find it on eBay. Now, this printer does not have wi-fi or bt, but you can connect it to your laptop with an A-B USB Cable. I found one in a consignment store, had the a/c power adapter and usb cable, and they wanted $40 for it. The only problem with it was that the ink had dried at the printhead. Well, I an inkjet refill kit and used the clear fluid/cleaner in squirted some on the pads and let it sit for an hour. Went to the Canon Printer Support Site and downloaded drivers and installed them on Windows 7/x64, which will also work under Win 8/81. After about 20 minutes of doing some test prints, the printer worked like a champ. I carry it with me everywhere I go when I take my laptop with me. You never know when you need to print something. And it will also print pictures with the Canon Paper. I have used HP Paper and Kodak on it, but the Canon paper does work the best with this printer. Now, if I could only find the battery for this printer. :) But if you look for it on eBay, you will find some listed for around $100. The i90 was the most popular, but there is a model i110 that is listed on eBay, as well. Happy hunting.
