And yes, that is pretty disgusting – I heard about this a week or so ago, but 
forget where – it was a different article. I used Steve Gibson’s (yes, that 
Steve from GRC.com – remember Shield’s UP and Spin Rite???) Never10  control to 
disable the Win 10 popups on my machines.

I've successfully and happily upgraded my own systems to Windows 10 - but holy 
crap is this disgusting.  What a way to destroy any good will and trust.  As 
James pointed out, this is a great way to get people to completely disable 
updates again.
