I know that the Secunia programs scan your system and let you know what versions are current and what aren’t. So they must have a database they use to validate versions. But I haven’t seen anything about accessing their database remotely. I like the idea of a central location to get the latest versions of the different programs.

What I have done for the obvious ones like Flash and Java are use a regex and url check in our network monitor system with a daily check. Not exactly sexy but effective for at least those vendors that publish their current version. If you settle on something, post back to the list. jlc From: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Richard Stovall Sent: Thursday, August 4, 2016 2:08 PM To: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> Subject: [NTSysADM] Software versions Does anyone know if there is a publicly queryable (is that a word?) repository of software versions out there on the Interwebz? Since that makes no sense, let me (attempt to) explain what I mean. It would be freaking awesome if I could write a script that says give me the current release version of these 10 major software packages (pick any 10) and goes out to somebody's web service out there (someone I trust, obviously) and gets the information. Does anyone know that somebody? Thanks, RS
