Microsoft makes their facilities and content available for partners who can guarantee a certain minimum of attendees. They also have arrangements with certain national catering vendors (think: Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, etc.) who will provide food for free or at a very reduced cost for these events.
It means that sometimes the quality really sucks. And sometimes it’s superb.
