Well, remove the GPT label and use MBR, then add the partition layout need?

Subject: [NTSysADM] Installing Win 2012 to an IBM x3550 M3

Greetings!

We had a Win2008 domain controller, and we needed it to be a Win2012 DC. SO,
bootable USB chip from a Win2012 ISO, wipe the Win2008 partition, and then
spend 15 hours or so not being able to install.

Booting from the USB, I am informed a partition cannot be created because it
uses GPT partitioning.

I downloaded the "IBM Server Guide" ISO and burned that to a DVD. That created
a new partition for me. THEN it says if the Win2012 installers are on USB,
click 'Next'. WELL, they mean on the SAME USB chip as Server Guide. SG was on
DVD...

I do in fact have a system partition. However, again, GPT partitioning...

Looking for drivers finds none.

I have some "critical update" files from IBM. Some are executables, and some
of those can be opened with 7-Zip. I believe I have some drivers, which I have
copied onto my Win2012 USB. This may not work (I am in the middle of my
umpteenth attempt).

I have installed Win2012 on some bare metal HP Proliant boxes with nothing but
a Win2012 DVD. I have wiped another IBM server (can't recall which version of
System X) and installed Win2012. NEVER getting so much noise from the system -
they've all installed quite simply.

SO, how does one manage to come up with a way to install Win2012 on a server
that presents the installer with GPT partitioning???

Thanks...
