late response, but don't just unplug the cable, plug it into a spare hub...

Subject: Cable Disconnected X FW1 IP tied license

Message

            Hi All,

When we are re-installing CheckPoint FW1 in a new installation
of Windows 2000 and we are having some dificulty because the licence is tied
with the IP.
So if it is a new Server and my actual "in use" server uses the
same licence so the same IP, I have to install the FW1 disconnected to the
network and make all configurations with no LAN connection.

            My point is:
In Windows NT 4.0 I used to install FW1 disconnected to the
network and have no problems but in WINDOWS 2000, when we unplug the cable,
the FW1 Service starts but the Police Editor don't...

We've observed that when the cable is unpluged the "ipconfig
/all" answer to that LAN Adapter is "Cable Disconnected", no IP nor specific
just defined Route to that Network ID appears in "route print" command...

How can I make those values remain even though I disconnect the
cable ??????

            Regards,

            Laercio Santos Jr
