Evening,

We have a problem with our 3com switches, 3300 Superstack II's. It seems
every 20-25 days, they (we have 3 stacks, 4 each using matrix cards to
connect the switches), lose connections with our severs. We have a Novell
3.12 sever and a Win NT 4.0, sp6a, with 3com nics. Most of the time it's
the mapped drives, sometimes it's the printers. We changed cables, switches
and cards. We contacted 3Com and they have been some help but not a lot.
So far, the short solution is to reset the switches, but it's getting kind
of old. My boss is thinking about changing switches altogether, so if anyone
has any suggestions, feel free to send them. Most of the users who have
problems are not on the same switch, and not all users have a problems, so
any one being bad is out. I think it's a bad nic card, but it hard to find
the guilty one. We're thinking of a network monitor, so if anyone has a
good one they use send it on. Well, I'm going home now, after being her all
day working on this. Excuse the ramble. It's been a long day!

TIA
Michael Johnson
