Currently at home i am using ELN with RASPPPOE on a W2K AS.  I am using a program created by an InfospeeDSL user called KeepRAS to keep my connection open (it pings 10 hosts, and if it doesnt get a reply, it will disconnect and reconnect the connection.    RASPPPOE is MUCH more stable than winPOET (i hate winPOET too). For DNS resolution and machine access, i use a DynDNS client.

I've tried loading RAS and my DynDNS as services but that hasn't worked yet(RAS loaded and connected but DynDNS failed). It is definitely do-able tho.
This is a less simple answer, but it's FREE!

Do it.  I don’t think you will regret it.  Either that, or find a DSL provider that doesn’t use PPPoE (could be harder than you think).  Although some have mentioned that the Linksys routers suck, we have quite a few people that I work with who have invested in them and are very happy with them.  For what you pay, I think they deliver pretty good performance.

Is there something else I can use? I need to hook this thing up so it will stay on:) But I willmost likely take the suggestions of the group and jsut buy a DSL router as that will supposedly keep the connection on. If it loses connection it will jsut do reconnect attempts.
