NT4 Server SP6. Strange problem I'm having here. This server had 5 hard disks in it and I was able to consolidate all the data onto two drives. I took out the 3 unneeded disks and now the event log is filling with Event ID 9: aix78xx The Device, \Device\ScsiPort0, did not respond within the timeout period. These events occur every few minutes, all day and all night, even when there's no activity on the machine. The backup fails also. (Seagate DDS4 tape drive) I made sure the terminations were correct, and don't really know what else to check. All I did was take drives out. Those three disks were in the middle of the chain. I was wondering how to go about upgrading the controller from an adaptec 2940 to a new Ultra 160 controller (Adaptec 29160). The tape drive and one hard disk are LVD. The boot drive is single ended. Maybe this is part of my problem. Should I install the new card, install the driver then switch the devices to the new adapter?
