My (short) experience with this software hasn't been too pleasant, since the
product seems a little clumsy to setup and configure. Also, the e-mails sent
after creating/updating a case contain a broken hyperlink to the case - what
I mean is that the link is wrapped, so it doesn't work.
Also, in the form for entering a new case, the categories are list boxes
instead of combo boxes, and that makes browsing through topics rather
difficult.
But the main reason we don't like it is that every user needs a special
account and password - why not using NT authentication? It's more secure and
it's easier for an employee to remember only one set of credentials.
This is why we stick to the _completely_ free solution from Liberum:
www.liberum.org.

Just thought I would pass along as a extremely satisfied customer
(especially after my horrible experiences with Blue Ocean), that Internet
Software Sciences http://www.inet-sciences.com has released a new version of
their very affordable and useable web-based help desk software called
Web+Center Help Desk 3.5. I had been beta testing it an the owner/author,
Scott Vanderlip, has been one of the nicest and most receptive people I've
worked with. The five-user version is only $1500 and the three tech version
is still free! My reputation has gone up a couple of points since using this
product because of the automatic email notifications.
Additional information about the new features and upgrade information can be
found in latest Internet Software Sciences
Newsletter on the web at:
http://www.inet-sciences.com/newslettervol3.html
As a side note, any of you other sysadmin's using this product in a hospital
environment? I'd love to share notes. We modified the product since many of
our users (nurses mostly) don't use a PC. Also, Scott wrote a terrific app
for us based on Web+Center that will save our Medical Staff department
thousands of dollars in labor that you might be interested in. It is a
simple online database of the physicians with privileges at our hospital
that insurance companies and HMO's can access. The Medical Staff department
was having to answer about 300 requests a month via fax or mail.
I post this without compensation. I just love the product and am impressed
with Scott's support.
