Unless you have the add-in from Backup Exec for Exchange you can't do
backup's while it is running. Best bet is to use good old NTBackup for
Exchange and back it up on-line. THEN use BE to backup the backup! Also,
both WINS and DHCP do their own backup, again all you have to do is backup
the backups! Veeerrry efficient!

Subject: Full Backup: PDC w/Exchange
When doing a full online backup of our NT4.0 PDC that includes Exchange 5.5
using Backup Exec 7.3, I get a lot of open files that are in use. Some of
those are WINS and DHCP. I want to get a full offline backup including
Exchange so that I can get the WINS, DHCP and Exchange as well. Is it
okay to simply stop DHCP, WINS and all the Exchange services in order to
complete this successfully? Any other services to be aware of? No DNS on
this particular server. I've got to the get the SP6.0a hotfix rollup and
the IIS cumulative updates installed so I want to insure that everything is
backed up and cool beforehand.
Thanks for any help,
Bruce
