It's
really a merger. The merged company will operate out of Palo Alto,
CA.
Many
Compaq executives will be retained, such as the Compaq CEO, who will become
president of the merged company.

function as 2 seperate companies. Compaq's name is much bigger than HP,
especially in the server market. I think HP just wanted a bigger piece of
the PC and Server pie, and Compaq wanted the financial backing of HP's dominance
in the peripheral and printer market. It's a good
