First time it boots, keep the password blank, then make sure the Windows
password is left blank. This will clear both of them...

Drop to DOS
CD\Windows
Del *.PWL

Next time you boot, it should go away

Subject: Windows98 boot authentication pop-up

Hi NT/2000'ers
excuse me for the sligthtly off-topic question, but i have this problem:
I must set some old PC, windows98, used by other guys. Those guys have
set the windows authentication (i.e. windows userid and password
pop-up). Obviously i can bypass the authentication by hitting the
"cancel" tab, but this pop-up presentation is annoying. How can i do for
deleting, during the PC boot, the presentation of the authentication
pop-up? (i have not found any windows parameter for this!) Any
suggestion?

Thanks in advance
