This may sound very simple, but I actually had a similar problem.  When
you are trying to connect to SMS server from SMS Admin, just put in SQL
Server Name and Database, but leave Login ID and Password blank, since it
uses NT authentication and you are already logged in to the network.  Hope
this works.
