Stop and Start the Spooler service for starters

Hello All,
My print service is acting up. When user sends a print job, it doesn't
get spooled and sits in the queue. An error message is flashed on the
server complaining about I/O error on the printer. Again the spooling
starts automatically and prints. The gap between error and printing time
could be 30 seconds to 2 minutes. We are using Lexmark printers with
Markvision printer utility on an NT4server. Any thoughts?
