What's the board on that? i81x? Maybe you need Intel drivers to sort out
audio onboard irq?
I usually reach for VIA 4-in-1 or latest Intel drivers first.

Subject: Unknown Device - Windows 98 SE
I've got a Compaq Presario ( I love Compaq, I hate Presario's ) with Win98se
loaded on it. There's an unknown device that I can't determine and I believe
it's causing a conflict with the Network Adapter. I can't get the machine to
join the network.
I've followed article Q298837 but there is no entry under the registry key,
that has "unknown" as the value for the "Class" key entry. I haven't found
any other Q's that relate to the problem.
Any of y'all experienced something similar?
- NT4 Domain
- Compaq Presario 4808
- Windows 98 SE
