We recently changed ISPs (and subsequently IP address block). The VPN dial-n, Win2K server, failed in the process.
While trying to get it back, the RRAS service was never able to stay running for more than a few minutes at a time. Now, after a few days of trying everything I could think of (including a system rebuild (not from scratch)), the “Accept Incoming Connections” radio button is grayed out and can’t be selected. This, of course, is under the Start | Settings | Network and Dialup Connections | Make new connection.
Does anyone know what has to be in place, before this radio button is enabled? I don’t think it’s a permissions issue since I’m logged in as both domain and enterprise admin. Also, if there’s anyone with ANY information about why the svchost (RRAS) service would keep dying for no apparent reason, I’d appreciate that, too.
