Depends what AV software you use. McAfee with management console allows
push/pull or Batch file install. Batch file for Laptops especially if they
are logging in. Don't know if Norton is similar but I would hope so.

A bbit of a tangent here - how do people out there cope with users in the
field with laptops that connect only infrequently? I don't want to have to
rely on them to do the updates themselves (users are not the most
trustworthy people for this). They connect back to home either via a
direct dial-in to a Shiva LanRover or through a VPN.
I have heard of Norton Mobile Essentials - does anyone know what it is
really like?

You will hear many suggestions for a full virus solution. The

is Symantec Ent 7.x. Its easy to setup, configuration is a breeze and it's
a
full virus mgmt solution. I have been using it since inception. I have no
problems with it and virus updates are always quick and easy to update. It
cleans non harmful viruses well (preventing end user file deletion). Fact
