Always question when they tell you you can't use DHCP... If what they mean is that you must assign specific IP's to specific machines - what would you rather do?
Manually assign IP's and 3-6 other settings for DNS/WINS/DFGW.... OR USE reservation tied to a MAC address to just have it all handed down It is a lot easier to just bring up a PC and then cut and past a reservation into DHCP. If DFGW needs to change, etc - change it one place not 100..etc. Most people that say you can't use DHCP - just don't know how to use it! We can't use DHCP for reasons that come from a higher level than my division and I have a software development department that is always screaming for IP addresses on my nearly maxed class C.
