For clients who don't have time, you should look at d2d2t which is disk to disk to tape
You get disk to disk backups after hours, then you can let the tape run throughout the day without affecting files, bandwidth etc. I guess it depends on amount of data and speed of backup system. The LTO loader my client has does about 1gb/min.
