dont seem to fix the problem.  I guess I'll just use the Linux option
for now until these drives are more widely used and there is a solution
for it.

Are you running SP1 on the system you're talking about? I'm not familiar
with this type of format but perhaps the improvements in SP1 for this
may be what you need.

Yes, I did read through that doc.  Maybe I missed something but lets say
the OS is corrupt and I need to pull user data off that drive.  How in
the world do I do it if my W7 box shows the disk partition as raw?

According to Dell Win7 is *supposed* to be able to read it.
