We use the free opendns at our organization. A couple of weeks ago I found one of our clients (adult) surfing pr0n sites on one of our computer lab computers. Looking through his browsing history, I would say opendns blocked about 50% of the sites he attempted to open, so I'm not so sure how effective it actually is.
